Metrology Gridfinity Setup

3d printing gridfinity metrology organization

A modular, precision-organized workspace system built on the Gridfinity open standard for storing and accessing metrology tools and equipment. Designed from the ground up for repeatability and efficiency every tool has a place.

Metrology requires clean, repeatable setups. Reaching for the wrong gauge or having calipers sliding around on a bench introduces unnecessary headaches. This system eliminates that by giving every instrument a dedicated, labeled slot that it returns to after each use.

Approach

Using 3D-printed Gridfinity modules custom designed precisely to specific tools, and setup equipment. Each insert is designed so the tool sits securely but can be removed one-handed without fumbling.

The base grid is printed in orange PLA with inset magnets to keep everything together. And the modules are printed in black, providing a sleek asthetic to the whole system

Goals

The end goal is a lab bench setup where time it takes to fins what you need is near zero, nothing is ever lost, and the workspace looks as precise as the work being done in it. Profiles will be shared here and on Printables once finished
